VOLUME 153, ISSUE 11 NOVEMBER 2011

Hi everyone!

Hope all are well, and you made it through Halloween. Boy we sure had a great show @ Santa Anita, and what a success it was! Everyone that participated should pat themselves on the back, GREAT JOB !!!!!!!!! I will keep you all informed about cost analysis, and of course our profit as soon as we know anything from Santa Anita.

This week is our annual picnic at Johnny Carson Park, so please arrive about 10:30. Lunch will be served around 12:00 noon. If possible will someone bring a game of choice.

At our next meeting Chuck Stein will have a sign-up sheet, so please sign up for the Christmas party. We need as accurate a count as possible to give to the Elks. The E Board wanted to change the party up just a bit, we thought that everyone could bring a $25.00 gift. Wanted to try a gift exchange this year. There won’t be a Club raffle this year. Again, we thought we would try something different. So hopefully everyone will participate.

This month will be our last E Board meeting of the year. There won’t be a Board meeting in December, however there will be our usual general meeting for December. Just wanted to mention the October nominations for new officers went well. Please congratulate Rodger Nervel as our new Sergeant at Arms, all other officers will remain the same for next year.

See you all @ our next meeting.

Keep Cruisin’
Rick

I want to thank everyone that worked and showed up to make the Santa Anita Car Show the success that it was. We couldn’t have done it without you. I think you all deserve something special for your work. For those that decided not to make a presence, I have nothing for you.

The Mystery Run is this Nov. 13th, going about 120 miles round trip. Please meet at the donut shop at 9 a.m. We’re going to met up with the rest of the group at Kanan Dune Rd at 9:30 a.m. We’re going to stop for lunch but no further info then that!
HAVE FUN! Frank Nay

Wow! What a fantastic show… Coffee and donuts started everyone off with the energy it took to knock this one off. I want to thank all the members that participated. Strange how it seems to be the same people year after year. SO, WHERE WERE THE REST OF YOU?

See you all at the Mystery Run on the 5th

Don Hoffman
Secretary

Again, we had one heck of a show. Now that it is over it’s back to business. Get your check books out and be prepared to pay for dues this December. All member dues are to be paid by the end of December.

Further information regarding our Christmas Awards party will be coming soon. Can’t believe the holiday season is almost upon us… so get your holiday face on and dole out holiday cheer!

Treasurer

Get your rides ready for the Mystery Run, and don’t forget to bring your appetite.

I also want to thank everyone for working the car show, but don’t forget the great job the Road Queens provided. Their continued support is greatly appreciated.

Santa Anita Car Show Car Show
HEY! What a fantastic show, and I can say it went off without a hitch, or complications (not too many that is). It started off really early in the morning, before the sun came up and ended with a great parade of cars waving and congratulating the Road King and Queens for such a great show.

I’m sure the horses were glad to see us leave, but we had a ball. All the participants were shocked to receive a chance to win one of five $100 bills (donated by the Track), not to mention a $700 Lojack System donated by our own Ted Saraf (thanks Ted).

This was the first year vendor’s midway was setup and it looks like they went away happy. I know the purse vendor raked in a load of cash just from our very own Road Queens. One little problem, we lacked enough raffle prizes to bring in the dough, so next car show maybe all you members will bring in one prize as mentioned several times. It isn’t hard to go out and ask!

The following message was sent in via email by the Bomb Club of So Cal congratulating our club. We thank you for your kind words.

Road Kings of Burbank,
On behalf of “BOMB CLUB So. Cal.”, I would like to thank the Road Kings for a great show at Santa Anita!  We enjoyed showing our cars and being apart of the car community.  Unfortunately, we run into obstacles sometimes in attempting to show our classic cars.  However, that’s not the case here, Road Kings, make us feel very welcomed and it means a great deal to us.  Not only are we greeted at the entrance, we are payed visits throughout the day and finally are thanked at the exit.  This does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated by our club.  Keep up the good work and we’ll see you next year!
Thank you, Rick Robles

ROAD KINGS LOST A FRIEND
It is with a sad heart to announce that one of the Road King’s friends has passed away. Ernest Ruiz founder and president of the Pachuco Bombs Car Club joined his other car buddies in the sky last Monday, October 24, 2011. Ernie and the Pachuco Bombs have been coming to our Santa Anita show for several years and have been great friends to our members. He was known as the Big Teddy Bear and would give anyone the shirt off his back in order to help out.

During the show on October 10th, Ernie was taken to the hospital. He had been ill for sometime. We were told by Eddie Carrillo that Ernie wanted to make our show and hung on long enough to see his wish come true. Services have not been made yet, but the Road Kings wish Ernie’s family and friends all our best and we will miss him THANK YOU ERNEST!

THEY MADE IT HAPPEN

I would like to give a big Road King special thank you for the T-shirt ladies, our Road Queens Suzy Tadlock and Marsha Mueller. They started giving out shirts and then stuck with it without a break, later turning freebies into sales, and boy did they sell a lot. I also want to thank Bruce Knechtges for helping out when the ladies finally had to leave. Without the help of all Road King’s Wives during the show, it would not have been such a success.

We are still receiving emails and calls mentioning the great hospitality our guests received, so please remember without each and every one that gave 100%, the show would not have been the huge success it was.

Check on line at KZLA 1070, and go to “Vic the Brick“ to check out pictures from the show. Special thanks to Roger Nevrel for vendors, Jim Gascoigne for sponsors, Mary Nay Silent Auction, Nick Sfetku at the raffle, Ray Astamendi and Rick Kaliz parking, Don Siglar trophies, Frank Nay judging, “Fast” Eddie Salvatore for support, celebrity pick, and registration, Barbara Drogmund, Linda Moore, and Betty Russel for registration, and everyone that helped each chairman, and especially for Sue, for all the hard work before and after the show to make it happen…
Thanks to All… Don Baldaseroni
